I don't want to admit to stealing, so let's just say I "borrowed" it.

and I'm actually pretty excited about it--seeing something new, relaxing in a hotel by the pool and getting out of here for a few days. I'm also nervous because I am leaving my 86-year old father and 83-year old mother behind. I also have a second cousin who I've been taking care of for the last few months--riding up twice a week to help around the house, do her shopping, take her out to lunch, etc. Fortunately, the trip is only for five days so I won't be away for long so hopefully they'll all be okay while I'm gone!

Take some time for yourself--relax- and enjoy--you deserve a little R & R. Just keep an eye on those Trolls- I hear they can be sneaky when they really want to do something (sorry Janie)

Hope you win big with just one chip--you deserve it for all your elder care....I would join you if I had already won the jackpot.... Have a great trip and take pics---hope the desert is warm for you...

Thanks, everybody! If everybody stays okay for the next three days, then I'm off to the Luxor! Unfortunately, Mom has not been too well--not too sick, but really weak, these past few days and I am praying that she is feeling better by Thursday. We'll see, but hopefully everything will turn out okay...

I'll keep you both in my prayers Fran. Having gone through this with my dad this year, I know the anxiety you feel about not being here. Will keep my fingers crossed that mom gets better and feels stronger so you can go with a minimum of worries.

Hey Fran--Just checking to see if you are heading for Vegas-hope the answer is yes-that would mean mom is doing better-keeping you both in my prayers

Mom seems to be doing better and Maggie seems to actually be getting a little excited rather than worrying--seriously worrying, about the plane trip. I don't know what happened to this kid (except, of course, 9/11--you know that when you live in New York and go to the city those two towers are still missed!). At one time, when she was 11 or 12, she even flew to Mexico by herself with a stewardess watching over her. No fear at all, but 9/11 changed things, maybe because she was so young.

Other than that, I'm ready to pack tonight. I have to leave at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to get to Newark by 6:00. Plane leaves at 7:30 and we arrive in Vegas at 10:30 (due to the time change being backwards!). Coming home Monday night will be a pain because we leave Vegas at 2:00 and don't get into Newark until 9:30--time change forward, and I hate that!

Mitzy and Ditzy had a great couple of weeks and are really excited that the trip looks good. I was nervous, so I'm sure they felt it, but they are already hanging around the suitcases and smiling away. They did have a couple of Malibu rum and cokes last night but were pretty well behaved. They also claimed they missed the kids, but not enough to go home just yet!

Maggie and I are both bringing our laptops (mine PC, hers a MAC with a webcam). We will take many pictures and post them!

Keep your fingers crossed--only about 10 hours from now and if everyone stays well, we will be off...

Fran-I am so glad! Sounds like you really need this trip--I'm sure Maggie will be fine too- My kids were 6 and 8 when 9-11 happened and we were at the height of "Disney-mania" (trip down every year) It was really hard getting them on a plane after that- but they did it the following summer-and each trip has a little less anxiety associated with it. I think when we go out of MacArthur (here in Islip) they don't even think about it-it is such a small airport and very low key. The more excited they get about something-the less anxious they are. Have a good flight and make sure those trolls don't get into too much trouble! (They might be joining me at Christmas)

I'm almost done packing but poor Maggie had school today, then she had to go to the playhouse where she works for a few hours, and then she went back to school because she has to rehearse for a play she is in during November I didn't want her to go but she will miss two rehearsals when we are away so I think she felt obligated. She is excited because she got a good part in the play and it was her first audition--12 out of 72 got parts, but she got a pretty decent one and doesn't want to let them down. She called to say she was going out for a while after rehearsal but I should make sure she is up by 3:00 a.m. to shower and pack!! (I'm doing some of her laundry now....

Anyway, I'll post just about every day, I'm sure, and will take lots of pictures!
