My wife and I will be vacationing in Cancun in a couple of weeks. We were wondering what the dress code was on the beaches etc. Is it ok to be topless on the beaches there? Thanks for your help.

Our opinion based on 14 trips:

Discreet topless on the beach is never an issue. Never have seen topless volleyball players, topless in a pool, topless in the skyglider..... Have seen topless especially at adults only resorts by the pool. Depends on the location. In the immortal words of Mrs. Dougout, "it feels so good not to have that underwire digging in........." My response, "I am so glad for you!"

So you are saying that my wife can walk around and "let them breathe" on the beach and that is ok? Has your wife done that a lot?

She has where there were not large crowds and only on the beach sitting in a lounger. It's not a big deal unless someone is putting on a "show" which is maybe not appropriate EXCEPT at the Oasis....oh my... At certain times they could rename the beach to playa de pecho.....

So if my wife was just walking topless on the beach or wading topless in the water that would be ok?

Not to hassle you but you haven't really let me know if my wife can do those things and not be in trouble. (Maybe if you help me I can give you a momento of the experience)

if you scroll back through the replys-you will see the question was answered the first time--discreet topless is not a problem- some of the adults only resorts have a more liberal policy-can she jog down the beaches like that-probably not no matter how "smokin hot"she is

here's what you should know: 1-it is illegal; 2-it is not part of the Mexican or Mayan culture, so since you are their guest and they are your host, i suggest you show them respect.

now saying that, it is not usually proper for ladies to be topless around the pool but that can depend on the hotel. some are more liberal than others. it is more common on the beach. i suggest she go with the flow, but be descrete at first. tim
