It survived last year's two hurricanes and, as of a few months ago, was still open. We decided to cross it off our list of favorites, though. Food quality deteriorated, in our opinion, and prices went way up. The nice view remains, though.

thanks for the info Craig

maybe we'll just stop for drinks or something as we will be swimming at the beach south of the ruins...any other suggestions down there then?

...you might try La Vita e Bella. We're not too big on Italian food when in MX, but it's supposed to be pretty good. We had lunch there in March and found it to be all right. Service was fairly lacking though. Otherwise...the Mezzanine features Thai food, also said to be good, but we haven't tried it. Nachos, I'm sure, has some food that's good, it's just that it was such a disappointment this year after being so good last year. And they did raise their prices quite a bit.

If you want to wait until on the way back, I can heartily recommend Pizzaria Leo's in Chemuyil. Of course, it's not on the beach...being on the inland side of 307 and back a few cross streets. I can get you more info on finding it if you're interested. They have a very full menu of pizza as well as Italian and local foods and they serve killer margaritas. Also there are a few great places in Akumal I could recommend.

not loving the Italian thing as it is too heavy for ME for lunch and the point was to be on the water. I'll take a copy of your post, but it sounds like we may just stop in Akumal at Lol ha (did I spell it right?) as that is a favorite of ours. Or the place by Casa Cenote.

Thanks again for your help.

You got it right

Lol Ha is good (both the restaurant and the beach bar) and do fit the right-on-the-water requirement. Casa Cenote is not as good as it once was, but still a decent lunch stop. There's also Oscar y Lalo's at Punta Soliman. And a few other less formal places along the Tulum beach stretch you'll be on, but we haven't tried them as yet. :D Big Grin
