We usually booked USA3000 to go to Cancun.

Seven months ago we paid around $350.00 per person round trip in Nov. 2007, that included all taxes.

So, for $700.00 we could fly to Cancun and back, 2 people.

I just checked USA3000 website for a Sunday to Sunday flight from Pittsburgh
in November for 2 ... OVER $2,000.00!!!!

That is for AIRFARE ONLY, NO hotel room, NO food!

Janie--When are you going? Check Tim's flight search--that is how I found my fare for Dec. It popped up on the search I did- then I went to the USAir site directly and priced flights both from JFK and Islip (I didn't mind a short stop). Found a flight out of the local airport (5 minutes from my house) for about 20 bucks more than flying out of JFK-(which is an hour away) no taxi or limo fee-no long term parking fee-with a town permit I can park for free in the regional airport. I'm sure the fares have gone up considerably (I know my fare has almost tripled since I booked in February)but do try the flight search engine here-it may lead you to a lower fare on a different airline--Good luck honey-it is getting more and more ridiculous to travel with the increases in fares and the decreases in service!

I wasn't looking to BUY, I was just browsing!

I know we can get a better price if we're willing to make a stop, change planes,
leave later in the day, leave Cancun earlier in the morning, go mid-week, etc.

I checked the search engine, and I did find American flights for around $1,000.00 for 2,
BUT there's a stop in Miami, change planes, we would get into Cancun at 9 p.m., and
have to leave Cancun at 7 a.m.

That takes your 8 day trip down to 6 days.

It just shocked me to see that kind of a price increase in the past 7 months.

No problem Janie--you guys are all so helpful here- wanted to return the favor. I saw on Orbitz a flight for $358 (plus taxes)for Nov 12- nov 19 (I think that is sunday to sunday but not sure). I didn't check the details on the flight time though. We are leaving christmas Eve at 7 am and will get into Cancun before 1 pm. We fly home New Year's Eve and leave Cancun at noon and will be home by 8 pm. We have a 2 hour layover in Philadelphia both ways but I figure we can't check in till 3 anyway and checkout is 11 so I'm ok with my flight times. Now I just have to wait 5 months and 13 days to get there-

Ok not sure what calendar I was looking at but Now I did check for a Sun to Sun through Orbitz (11-16-11-23) $458 plus takes leaves at 6 am and gets in at noon--return flight was at 1:30 and got back to Pitt at 10:30pm. It takes some hunting but sometimes you will hit on something- With November you have to watch for the dreaded Thanksgiving week travel (and it is late this year so if you looked from the 23rd to 30th it is Thanksgiving weekend--cha-ching!!) NOt sure what earlier looked like- I know my sister was looking to go in November (have no idea when) and she only flies American- she said it was over $1000 bucks apiece also--that is insane. I have to agree with Tim--gas doubled but I wasn't aware that it was the only thing we were paying for on a flight--guess everything else is a freebie huh? voodoo economics at its best--even my weak math skills are impressed

By then you will likely have to pay to go to the lavatory..... Many no frills flights are on the way.... I hope Southwest finally gets routes into Cancun... at least with them, I know what to expect, so long as my skirt isn't too short.

I know what you mean Janie...we cancelled our plans for Oct/Nov to Cancun...we refuse to pay over 800.00 for 1 ticket

No doubt about that Tim! I used your search and found flights that I never would have considered. That made be want to see if there were other times available or a price comparison between the 3 airports in my area so I went to the actual airline site and found a wider array of flight times with options to search day before/day after for price comparisons. I never would have found the flight I am on if I hadn't used your site first. Never even thought about using USAir-kept checking Delta and AA for the days I thought I was going. I actually changed my plans and rather than leaving NY on 12/26- we will celebrate Christmas in Cancun and will leave on 12/24. As long as I am with my hubby and my kids doesn't matter where I celebrate Christmas and it might as well be somewhere warm!
Will continue to tell people to check here for all things Cancun related-including airfare searches!! (And I haven't even actually used your services yet--so far I've just been watching and learning from everyone on the site--will book all my tours and transfers with you as we get closer to our departure)

I think you may have found one of those really bad deals that are so often offered. I chose a random saturday next month for 7 nights DTW to CUN on spirit.

448 pp, sounds reasonable without much searching (air only with the taxes and such). Send those trolls my way.

I can go end of July, Thurs to Thurs, 2 people for a total of $1114.56 ...

but, we don't want to go in July, too hot for us!!

I was looking for the end of November, early December.

(The trolls are going with Jodi soon, then they're off to Cabo in August. )
