If anyone lives in Austin, Texas, there is an airline called VIVA AEROBUS that flies to Cancun. Checked price for the heck of it and price for one person round trip was $504.00.
If anyone lives near southern california, they also fly from Tiajuana as well. Looks like promo codes posted online at various places can get you a pretty steep discount.

Very small terminal, reminded me of Cancun back in the 80's. They only people there were the folks on your flight. Made customs a breeze!

They have some rates as low as 9.99 US (from Austin) per leg. Please notice that their taxes & fees are per leg as well.
We are flying them this Saturday from Austin to Cancun. We booked three tickets in early May for a round trip of $340 and I booked one last Friday night (same flights) for $532.
When I booked the $340, the flights from DFW were running about $200 more. Since I booked three, that was a $600 savings. One of my childrens' schedule was up in the air until the last minute. But if he was flying from Dallas on a week advance ticket, I'm sure we are getting the same $200 savings.
So saving roughly $800 on four tickets, but having to drive to Austin.... We will stay w/ our oldest daughter who has a house there. So, cost for gas and food, probably $100. Net savings, $700.
Hopefully things will go well and it will be worth it.
