Cancun Trip Report - Day 4
Lisa in MN 3/21/08 21:36

Back at the Omni for the day
Pretty much spent the day at the beach and pool today.

Rob and the girls in the kiddie pool...

Saw Iggy again in his usual spot....

Bloody Mary and Pina Colada. Power drinks for the morning.

Beach beds for rent at the Omni

Again, I wish I was here...

I wish I was in this chair....

So we packed some beers in our cooler. Do you think someone would have brought a bottle opener??!! No. Not my family. So when I asked Rob for a beer, I turn around and catch him trying to open this bottle with a book and the table. Geez...

He eventually got it open. Not sure how, but he did.
Rob doing curls on the beach......

Here he doubled the weight for his curls...

Folks relaxing in front of the jacuzzi bar...

We went to lunch at the pool bar grill. We watched a water volleyball game...

And water aerobics.........

More of the Omni's pool area...

Our villa was the 2nd one from the right of this group of villas...

For dinner, we went to El Shrimp Bucket. Randy and I haven't been to it since it was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma over two years ago. Just before we came down, we learned that they finally reopened and in a new location. They are now across from the Oasis/Fiesta Americana Condesa hotel area.

Randy and I had the bucket of coconut shrimp. Yummy!

After we ate, the girls fell fast asleep. They're not used to playing so hard all day in the sun. Guess it wears them down. I know this happens with some adults too.

After dinner, everyone went back to the villa to put the girls and themselves to bed. Randy and I were wide awake, so we decided to stay out. We ended up not going not far, so we went to Pocho and Willy's, which is the bar next to Captain's Cove, which is conveniently across the street from the Omni. We were hoping (OK, more me) to see the crocodiles that regularily visit. Well, one showed up to say hi. I took several pictures of him/her. Big, nasty teeth...

Keep in mind that these dinosaurs live in the lagoon. Why people jetski and sail in the lagoon baffles me. Seeing them in person makes me respect them more. Don't know how Steve Irwin did it with swimming with them and handling them, but I sure did respect him and all he did, even though I though he was nuts.

I guess they always come almost every night, looking for food that people throw them.

Randy and I enjoyed the music videos and comedy edits from various TV shows on the big screen in the bar. We laughed so hard at some of the cheesy 80's stuff. Around 10pm, a band started. They played all sorts of rock and top 40. Queen, Beatles, Eagles, Country....and they sounded great. People were having a great time dancing.

I think we watched them until midnight or so and then went back to the villa for bed.
One nice feature in the villa are lighted stairwells....

Well, that's it for day 4. Another great day in paradise.

Thank you for another great report!

And those crocs look familiar... I used to see two or three of them years ago when I stayed at the Royal Resorts and went to Captain's Cove for dinner!!!

Lisa,

That bar across from the Omni is pretty good. Did you see all the old videos?

We had a good time there and the live music was good also. I'll be there soon I hope.

Thanks for the reports,
Mike H

Did you happen to run in to Moises during your trip?

You guys really pack those days full. It makes for a much more interesting TR that way. My TR's are pretty much the same thing each day.

Yes - everyday. I haven't mentioned him yet in my TR, but I will. From the day we checked in, he has pampered us. My dad really grew to like him. I do have a couple of photos of him, which I will post in upcoming TR installments.
