is there anything like the Xcaret Mayan show in the Zona??

i'm also wonder if there still is a Ballet Folklorica at the Convention Center, and/or Hacienda Mortero (don't know if that's the right name or not--oh well )

there is a Voices and Dances of Mexico performance at Teatro de Cancun. i've never been to that. is it similar to the Ballet Folklorica?? Tim

Maybe you should venture out of the Hotel Zone...nobody should just stay in the Hotel Zone while in Cancun. Get out and see what Mexico is all about!

El Mexicano has been around forever. It is on the lagoon side just before you get to Plaza Caracol, if you are coming from downtown.

Coming from the "lower" end of the HZ, you pass Plaza Caracol, amke a U-turn after passing the plazas immedately after Plaza Caracol and it is about dead center of the plazas as you head back toward Plaza Caracol. There are actually 4 plazas here, 2 across from Fiesta Americana Vacation Club / Riu and two behind them on the lagoon side. The 4 of them almost appear to be one.

Back in the 90's this was a happening area. Paul Ross was a regular. Hard Rock Cafe, Hard Shell Taco, Tequila Sunrise, Rock Lobster Garage and more. Plus a house of prostitution that I am pretty sure is still there. Later, Philadelphia Cheese Steak came to the area. There you could drink $1 beers, eat decent namesake sandwiches and even see the hookers going to and from work. Ah, the good old days.

Thanks TJ. I'm one of those "old timers" that wish Hard Rock had never moved. I think they are sorry too now. That was an Awesome area at night time, and I wish it was still there! Tim

Right Tim. If I owned the old Hard Rock building I would give them free rent for a while just to come back.

I am sure you can remember having to stand in line just to get in. Unlike the new location.

um Trina, you're preaching to the Choir. remember what happened last trip?? kinda put a hold on doing much of Anything, unfortunately. we were going to go to Tulum, Akumal, and stop along the way at other places. like Felix's bar.

i'm Maybe at 80% of were i was last July. so our big excursion will be a day on Isla. which will be Relaxing. but I'M driving the golf cart!! jejejejejeje Tim

Perhaps Trina was also referring to El Centro. And that does not mean Yaxchilan. We could take you to places like Va Q' Va, where few gringos dare tread, and you cannot eat all the shrimp that $80 (about $6.25 includin tax) buys, or any number of other interesting and inexpensive dining experiences. There is also the Sunday Tianguis, a giant outdoor flea market kind of place. See the Cancun that the Expats live and love.

TJ, if i have the oomph, i want to show Janell Mercado 23 and have dinner at Club Nauticus. i think Trina wanted us to join them at one of their fave watering holes too. Tim
