hola Katey. most of the sharks are nurse or reef sharks and are harmless unless provoked. chances are, you would never see them if you go snorkeling in Cancun. in 17 years, i've only heard about 2 predatory sharks. one was a great white, and the other one might have been a tiger shark. both were killed before causing any troubles. tim
